How to Update Your Fall Wardrobe with Five New Tops

I haven’t bought anything for my closet since the start of COVID in March, so this fall was a great time for a bit of a closet update. It’s amazing what just a few new items can do to make a closet feel fresh for the new season.

Been there before? Know what I am talking about it?

This time I updated my fall closet with just a little organization and a few new pieces.

Start with a Cleanout

Before you add new pieces to your closet, clean out your current closet. Get rid of outdated, too small, or just plain old clothing.

And if you are having time getting rid of clothing that is “too small” then you can pack it away in a storage bin in case you do “lose those 5 pounds.” In the meantime, focus on what fits right now and stop waiting for items to fit again.

Once you have cleaned it out, it’s time to gather items for a Fall Capsule Wardrobe. Then you can take inventory of what you have and make a list of items you might like to purchase.

It’s always nice to have a little help in this department, so I turned to the Fall 2020 Outfit Formula Capsule Wardrobe for my fall capsule wardrobe shopping list. The suggested items are a handy way to start by shopping in my own closet first.

After I finished shopping in my own closet, I still wanted a few new items to finish the shopping list with my Fall capsule wardrobe. Once again, the shopping list didn’t steer me wrong – these five shirts have been great additions to my Fall Capsule Wardrobe.

Five Practical Shirts to Add to Your Fall Wardrobe

Admittedly, I didn’t mean to buy as many tops as I did, but it feels great to have a few fresh items to mix and match with my jeans and cardigans.

1. Camouflage Hoodie – This isn’t something I would have put on my own list, but that’s why I love the Fall Outfit Formula. It pushes me to try something new and I have to say I LOVE this one. It’s comfortable and casual and the camouflage is fun! The fit is great and it’s an easy grab for my denim, maroon, and even white jeans!

2. Chambray Top – This is a closet staple that I didn’t have yet! Well, I think I had one in a smaller size that I gave to my daughter.

3. Making Magic Happen Graphic Tee – Moms make magic happen every day, don’t we? This shirt was perfect. I did order two sizes up based on customer feedback. I think one size up would have been enough but this works for a nice loose fit.

4. Striped Long Sleeve Tee – This is such a comfortable shirt! It’s great for fall and it’ll work great with a vest in the winter.

5. Casual Tunic Top – I love the simple pattern on mine so much that I plan to order it in a solid color tunic as well. It’s comfortable and cute! It’s great with leggings or skinny jeans.
