This is a school year class that meets for 30 minutes on Tuesdays, beginning in September. Each week we’ll discuss a different graphic novel, exploring how words and images combine to create powerful storytelling experience.

FIRST HALF: STORY EXPEDITION
We’ll dive into the various story elements including:

– Opening hooks and satisfying endings
– Powerful themes for readers
– Foreshadowing and other literary elements

SECOND HALF: ARTISTIC EXPLORATION
We’ll analyze the visual storytelling techniques including:
– Panel layouts and their impact on pacing
– Art styles and how they enhance the story
– Creative speech bubbles and sound effects
– Font choices and their emotional impact
– Color palettes and visual symbolism
